Society often sees school as the sole site of learning. Yet people learn science from a variety of sources, in a variety of places – the informal environments. However, research in those settings is rare, therefore, how knowledge is acquired remains largely unclear. Due to that, science museums often struggle to evaluate their own practices and the need to provide evidence of their impact to stakeholders.
In this suggested participatory research, Dr Neta Shaby and Dr Ran Peleg will collaborate with the Winchester Science Centre in order to diagnose, act and reflect on practical issues identified by the Museums Educators. We aim to develop an Impact Measuring Toolkit to help practitioners inform their instruction and in addition to provide much need evidence to stakeholders.
